Here in the parish of South with New Hinksey, we are particularly blessed with St Laurence in South Hinksey as a mediaeval gem.

St Laurence is a traditional, picturesque church situated in a quaint village. The building itself is a Grade Two listed building, being able to trace its roots back to the 12th Century Norman period. Having survived as a local place of worship through centuries, including the English Civil War where it was partially destroyed, it has gone through a number of rebuild, refurbishments and modernisations over the centuries but remains a lovely space for worship and community to this day.

The church saw a helpful addition of small kitchen and toilet in recent years, parking is available along Parker Road, and our churchyard is beautiful – particularly in springtime. Do come and meet us when you can.

Services at St Laurence

Our Sunday service at St Laurence takes place 9.15am-10am every week. We always celebrate the Eucharist (or Holy Communion), and all Christians baptised and welcome to receive in their own church are welcome to do so with us. Do not fret if you are not yet sure whether this is for you, what all those words mean, or what church is about! All are most welcome for a visit and attendance, we provide a friendly and warm welcome and introduction, and serve refreshments following the service.
