We love for everyone to be as involved in our churches as possible. Do you have any particular gifts or talents you would like to offer? We currently have people helping with the garden, maintenance, serving at the altar, reading during church services, serving refreshments, providing welcome, Messy Church, study groups, the Parochial Church Council, community work, etc.
However, perhaps you bring other and new ideas as to what we might do as well? Come and have a chat! The easiest way to get involved with our parish is to just come along to one of our services and meet us.
Craft & Creed
We are great believers in the Beauty that God is, which at the best of times can be glimpsed and participated in through the arts in all their nuance and creativity. To celebrate this, we hosted a first ‘Craft & Creed’ weekend in June 2023. Through Craft & Creed we hope to encourage artists and local residents to glimpse something of the beauty and goodness with which God has infused His creation. More information on the link.
We also love to host concerts and performances, and have tried all sorts. If you’d like to be invited to these (usually free) irregular concerts then please drop us a line to be included on the invitation list.
Messy Church
Every 6-8 weeks we organise a so-called Messy Church for children between 3-11 years old, with their parents and/or carers. All children, however, are very welcome to attend.
Our sessions are always themed, and we spend a total of 2 hours doing crafts, decorating biscuits, singing, listening to and engaging with a Bible story, and a light lunch. All of this is free of charge, so do come and join us when you can!
New Hinksey CE Primary School
Serving the local area and situated opposite to St John’s Church is New Hinksey Church of England Primary School.
